Question

CP5 - W7 - Captions more than 5 variants...

There are many threds about how to change captions, this is not about that.

[The text-caption files are actually five (5) different images, each with its own margin file. The reason there are five (5) is because most captions have "callouts" or pointers, that are used to point to a specific item. There are call-outs for top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, and "none".]

I wonder if you can make more types...

I want to have 9 captions not 5

2 captions: top left and top right... = the pointer is on the top side to the left or right.

2 captions : bottom left and bottom right... = the pointer is on the bottom side to the left or right.

2 captions : left bottom and left top... = the pointer is on the left side on the top or bottom.

2 captions : right bottom and right top... = the pointer is on the right side on the top or bottom.

1 caption: none... = it has no pointer

How would the FCM filed look like? And would the Captivate use more types if they exist? And are there other features that are hidden that can be used in FCM files.

One example

This one exists todayCan the system understand this?

Left Margin=15

Right Margin=15

Top Margin=10

Bottom Margin=35

[Hotspot]

Enabled=true

Corner=right,bottom

MarginX=17

MarginY=0

Left Margin=15

Right Margin=15

Top Margin=10

Bottom Margin=35

[Hotspot]

Enabled=true

Corner=bottom,right

MarginX= 0

MarginY=17

The pointer is on the right side on the bottomThe pointer is att the bottom to the right

Hi there

The only way I can fathom this happening is by constructing two nearly identical sets of Captions. One set has the images with pointers protruding toward the top or bottom, and the other set with pointers protruding toward the left or the right.

My own educated guess is that the development team built in some hard coded limitation for a five image limit. Just look at the panel where you see the types displayed. That panel presently cannot be resized by the Captivate user.

Cheers... Rick

It didn't stop Adobe trying - have a look at the Thick Border Orange group in the standard installation folder
