Does CP7 had an auto save function?

What are the steps for using the cache file to recover a lost project?

No autosave but please turn on the Backup option in the Preferences, General settings.

If you can find the cache, that can be used to recover a file if both file and backup file are corrupted. You'll have to zip the cache folder of the file and rename the extension. Each captivate file is really a zipped folder, just FYI

How do I use the .bak file? Do I just change the name by dropping the BAK?

For the cache project do I change the name before or after zipping or is it unzip?

    Thanks

Just change the bak to cptx... sorry that I didn't mention that.

For the cache there is an old blog post somewhere on the Captivate blog (2011 I think), but couldn't find the link.

You should zip and rename the zip to cptx only with these folders in the Cached folder:

Check whether that folder exists, and in that folder, the following exist:

    1)      compressed_data (folder)

    2)      objects (folder)

    a.      This should contains objects.cpo file. And the size of this file should > 0 KB

    3)      uncompressed_data (folder)

    4)      audio.cpad - file(size > 0 KB)

    5)      info.cpi - file (size > 0KB)

    6)      text.cptd - file (size > 0 KB)
