CP8: Link Button Added to Simulation

Hello Captivate Community,

I have added a button to a software simulation in order to open a url link on an IE window. Is that possible? Can you add such a button on a simulation? Not only is the button not opening the IE window when the project is published, but it seems to be conflicting with the failure caption that is supposed to appear on the same page once the user has not clicked on the correct screen location.  I am looking forward to your replies.

Thanks a lot!

    Hello Community,

Do any of you know is it is okay to have a button on a software simulation?  I would like it to open a url in a new window. It would be great if it would not interfere with the caption existent on the same screen. Thanks!

The reason your button is NOT opening the other window when published probably has to do with Flash Global Security blocking the action.  Upload your content to a web server and check whether it works from there.  Flash Global Security doesn't interfere with web server content, only content played locally from drives.

As to why your extra button would be conflicting with failure captions on the same page I'm not sure.  But it probably has to do with the pausing points of the button and whatever the other interactive object on the slide is (click box?).

Would setting the timing of each box fix the conflict?
