CP9 Motion path does not work on vertical line, but does work on angled line.

Hello,

I created a vertical line and gave it a left-right motion path.

I duplicated the vertical line and adjusted the bottom end so that it is now at an angle.

When the project is previewed or published in HTML5 only the angled line moves, the vertical does not move.

The same result happens when the motion path is changed to another type of path.

(It all works fine is Flash, both lines move, but I don't publish anything in Flash)

I do not need a solution, I have worked around the problem by moving the line just by 1 pixel.

I just thought it may be of help to anyone else who comes across this problem.

    Line object has a lot of problems, it is also the only shape that cannot be rotated (look in Options).

    Whenever I find a problem with that shape, I just replace it by a rectangle with a width of 1px, because I have given up trying to find reasons for that behavior.

    Thank you for the update on the problems with lines.

    The more I work with Captivate the more I don't like about it.

    It is 'designed' in an idiosyncratic style that may have appealed to the programmers, but I find odd and unreliable.

    I have started to apply a 'reduced instruction set' of features to my projects.

    For example, I have abandoned using 'Buttons' and 'Click boxes' and just use Smartshapes to do the same function. I'm also trying to do the same with all the different ways of interaction/automation.

    I feel that by using less features I can be confident the ones I use actually work and if a problem occurs it will be easier to track down.

    I abandoned click boxes and normal buttons since shapes appeared. There is still one place where you cannot replace the buttons by shapes: quiz and score slides. That is a pity because shapes are much more flexible. They'll probably get a boost for fluid boxes, because they can act both as text container, be filled with an image and act as interactive object, while I still see lot of CP-users repeating the old way of covering an image with a click box and this is not possible with Fluid boxes (normal ones) since they do not allow overlapping objects.

    Since shared actions appeared, I try to use them whenever possible to replace advanced actions but you'll very rarely see any tutorial (except those I published) where shared actions are even mentioned. Captivate has added so many features since it was almost exclusively a software simulation tool (version 1, which I have used) but those features are very badly documented. Lot of training is around that seems to be programmed for much older versions and where the trainer seems never to have developed any course. Will stop ranting because if you talk about 'Captivate' books, I'm totally frustrated.
