CP9: Software Simulation on HD Device - fix makes menus and toolbar text too small to read

Hi,

I had the same issue addressed here:

When I try to record the screen, an error pops up

...BUT the fix, which works, causes another issue for me.

Basically, if you have a HD display (using a Surface Book win10) and try to record a software simulation in CP9, you will get the below message:
"Capture is disallowed since High-Density display was detected. Please Set DpiAwareness =1 in AdobeCaptivate.ini and restart the application"

Navigating to the .ini file and changing the dpi value from 0 to 1 will allow you to record a software simulation, BUT it will re-size all toolbars and menus to tiny tiny text. Hurts to read. See below:

Does anyone have a fix or workaround for this - apart from altering the overall PC display resolution? This option isn't great as it significantly limits the usability of other applications I am using at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi James,

By default captivate will run on DPI Unaware mode where Captivate Menus respond to your OS scaling, but Capture may not work properly in this mode. To get Capture to work you need to set "DpiAwareness = 1"in AdobeCaptivate.ini file in the installed directory.

Once you are finished with the capture you can go ahead and reset the DpiAwareness setting to 0 to work in normal mode where toolbar menus do respond as per your OS Scaling.

    Thanks

Devraj, your solution does not work, as lots of people have pointed out all over the Adobe forums. It makes Captivate totally unusable.

You need to find a way to get Captivate work on DPI screens. This has wrecked all my usage of Captivate now :-(

You have to switch back to DpiAwareness = 0 after the capture to make Captivate adapt to the retina screen. Keep two versions of AdobeCaptivate.ini at your fingertips.

Look for scaling options in your Windows Display settings.  I have Windows 7 not 10.  But there are usually options in there to use a different scaling percentage on very high res screens that have pixel dimensions of 3000 pixels or more.
