PC running on Mini Mac M2 OS:Sonoma 14.3.1

Following a CPC crash (for no apparent reason) The CPC preferences> Quiz settings were corrupted as follows:

  1. The Quiz Required field set to Answer All - “The user must answer every question” changed to “Optional - The user can skip this quiz”.

2.  Under “Settings”:

The following check boxes became unchecked:

 “Shuffle Answers”

“Review Mode Navigation buttons”

“Allow User to Review the Quiz”

All of my 15 modules have had to be reset and re-run.

Also but I believe not related

Flashing buttons

HTML5 in browser When an image button is repositioned and published HTML5 in browser, the button flashes between its original position and its new position. To fix this anomaly, the image button has to be deleted and replaced.

Anyone haad this happen after a crash?

Thank you

Bob

    Correct answer Lilybiri

I am a Windows user, not a Mac user.

When you tell 'CPC' do you mean that you are using version 11.8.2, labeled Captivate Classic along the new version 12?

In that case know that this is a buggy version, and it seems worse for Mac users.

Just one tip: never use the option 'answer all....' for the Required field because it always has caused problems in Captivate versions. There is no problem to keep 'Optional' because there are lot of ways to force the user to complete the quiz: take out Skip, hide the playbar on quiz slides, do not allow free navigation in the TOC and the learner will need to answer each question or will be stuck.

Since your Preferences have been reset, you may try the usual troubleshooting workflows:

    • Clear the cache except for the present project (keep that project open)
    • Clean the Preferences (probably corrupted), by running the CleanPreferencesMac file from the subfolder 'utils' while Captivate is closed.

You'll need to set up the Quiz Preferences again because everything will be set to the defaults.

Thank you Lilybiri. Much appreciated. It was most annoying as I was in the middle of completing the final edit of the 15 modules prior to testing on an LMS. Not too much damage done as all the modules are set up with "forced navigation" so topics within can only be performed sequentially.  The exam module cannot be accessed until al modules have been completed.

    Thanks again

You still didn't tell which version you are using? Just out of curiosity.

Still thinking you are on Captivate Classic, do you know that you can export and import Preferences? That is another time saver which is lacking completely in the new version 12. Since the team only starts with requests which have a lot of votes, the requests I posted right away after the release about Preferences will never be tackled, most users don't even know what those Preferences and Themes mean.
