Cpt 9: Zoom Destination appears abruptly

Dear all,

I am using Captivate 9 version  9.0.1.320 on Windows 7.

My question might be really silly and sorry for that.

I've added a zoom area on one slide of my Demo Simulation.

I want the Zoom Destination to appear and zoom in gradually. At the moment the Zoom Destination appears quite abruptly even thought I've played around with the timings of both the Zoom Source and Zoom Destination.

On the top of that the Effects appear to be greyed out when I try to fix that issue by adding the Fly In effect on the Zoom Destination item.

What am I doing wrong?

Kind regards,
Iasmi

Could you upgrade to 9.0.2? I double-checked on your version, but there is a new patch released.

Normally the zoom area object is not appearing abruptly but takes time, which you can adjust in the Timing Properties.  Default setup is appearing at 0 secs and zoom time = 1.5secs. Maybe you could post a screenshot of the timeline, is there perhaps another pausing point somewhere? How did you test? Try Preview, in Browser or HTML in Browser (F12 of F11) if you are on a normal, not a responsive project.

Since it is a demo simulation, just a question: did you try the Video Demo (cpvc)  instead of the demo simulation? It has a much better way of zooming and panning with higher quality than the (old) Zoom object in the cptx-projects.

You could create a custom zoom effect, using the Scale and motion effects together on an image of the area to be zoomed.

Hi Lilybiri,

thanks for your response. I've previewed the same slide again  and now the Zoom Destination flies in smoothly.

I am not sure what went wrong there. Next time I will try to preview it in more than one ways (i.e. preview slides, preview in Browser etc) just to ensure that I am not doing something wrong.

Yeah you are right the zoom functionality in Video Demos is much nicer. However, I demo a software now, and the Demo Simulation fits more the purposes of my current script.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Iasmi

Demo simulation is easier to edit of course!
