Question

Create "Main Menu" type slide that works across projects

Hi all

I would like to create a "main menu" slide that can  be used for navigation and also tracks progress. The existing slide we have, uses advanced actions assigned to buttons to show a "tick" that indicates the topic has been completed, then takes the user to the relevant topic. When the user returns to this menu slide, the tick is showing and they can select another topic.

The problem is that now we have a massive course (over 300 slides) and it is hard to work with, so want to break into modules and use the aggregator. This means the menu slide doesn't work because I can't control elements on other slides outside of the project...

I thought I could create a kind of TOC/Main Menu slide that will take the user to the various projects, and show a tick to indicate that the topic they go to is complete.

Another idea I thought I could try was to set a "submit" or "finish" button at the end of each topic, which would show the tick beside the topic on the menu slide, but again, if this slide is sitting outside the other projects I can't so this.

Would this mean, I should really just use the TOC on the aggregated project to show ticks and navigate?

Thanks so much!

Amanda

Yes by all means use the TOC in the aggregator to show progress.

If you want another option, you could use these widgets to save and load cookies about which modules have been done: http://www.cpguru.com/2011/05/18/save-and-load-data-widget-for-adobe-captivate-4-and-adobe-captivate-5/

    Hello Amanda.

You can also achieve this using advanced actions and variables. You can set a variable to true on clicking every button and when you comeback to the main menu, you can check for the variable to be true, and show the tick mark. Mail me at viswanat@adobe.com and will send you a sample I just did.

    Thanks,

    Vish,

Amanda wants to break her product up into several modules and have a main menu slide that records completion of entire modules.  She can't do that with just Advance Actions and Variables because it requires persistence of completion data outside the module.
