Creating a Custom Slide for Responsive?

Hello everyone,

I am thinking about creating a Custom Slide within my Responsive Captivate 8 e-Learning presentation. However, since it's going to be responsive I am wondering if this is the wrong way to do it. Must I create 3 different Custom Slides that will fit into each Responsive device? Perhaps I should just create the interface design within Captivate and use the Top Hats to make sure everything fits together with the percentages/properties....

Good question. I mean a master slide. But what would be the difference between the two?

A normal slide is always based on a master slide, you cannot escape them. The work flow for both to create responsive objects is the same, but you have to be sure to be in the correct panel. Although objects in master slides are also arranged on a TImeline, that is only for stacking reasons (layers), objects on master slides never have timing. For master slides and objects on master slides, the timing Properties will not show duration, nor start times, nor pausing times.

Like for normal slides you have to be sure that all objects and text placeholders are responsive, using the styles (from the Object Styles manager) and the Position Properties panel. Indeed, you'll have to check the 3 breakpoint views, and the resolutions in between to check if everything is looking right.

Do you mean a custom regular slide or a master slide?
