Custom Accessible Quiz Slide Not Acting Right

Rather than using the quiz slide templates provided in Cap8, I'm using a regular slide with images that act as buttons. Upon entering the slide, you would see 4 "radio buttons" that are actually images of circles accompanied by text acting as options. There are also 4 hidden instances of those radio buttons to show each of them selected but I have a script that hides the "selected buttons" until they click an option. The Advanced Scripts to show/hide certain buttons are attached to SmartShapes that hover over the option text and radio buttons.

Upon entering the slide the 4 "selected button" images are hidden and a variable is assigned as "0". If you click SmartShape/Option A, then the "selected button" image for Option A is shown while the other 3 remain hidden; and the variable is assigned "1". Same for options B, C and D with variables of 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Additionally, I applied accessibility text to each of the SmartShapes so when the user tabs to highlight Option A, it reads "Type A to select Option A. Text to Option A". After making a selection, you would click the Submit button which has an action script that sends you to the appropriate response slide.

When I publish and go through it with my mouse - it works like a champ! The problem I'm running into is when I publish and tab to Option A, my JAWS ScreenReader reads "Type A to select Option A" but when I type "A", JAWS reads, "There are no radio buttons on this page." and I can't select an option without using the mouse.

Any suggestions? I'd be happy to post (somewhere) the slides I'm using for my quiz.

TIA!!!
