Question

Custom Pause/Play button on content screen

Greetings! I am hoping one of you Captivate gurus can assist me with this problem.

For our course (one of many courses in a very large curriculum), we will not be using the Captivate control bar part of the skin. But instead have custom navigation buttons (Next and Back) on the lower right of the content area. These are actually Smart Shape objects setup as buttons so they can reside on the Master slides (buttons and click boxes are not permitted on Masters (for some strange reason)).

What we need now is a custom button-type object that will pause the playback when clicked and then resume playback when clicked again. The function for all three of these buttons is working fine. HOWEVER, what we would also like, for the Pause/Play button is for the look of the object to change when the state is changed. I can do this on normal slides using named objects, a variable, and Advanced Action. But then I would have to have a different named object on each slide in the program and a different Advanced Action for each differently named object. Not realistic.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how this can be implemented? Is there a custom widget that exists that will do this and can be either used on the Master slides or simply copied and pasted on all slides without re-programming the widget each time?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

THANKS and cheers,

Russ

You are probably looking for something similar to what Lilybiri has explained in these blogs posts.

Thank you for the links to the blogs. Very helpful.  Works perfectly when the project is published as .swf file.

HOWEVER, I discovered a problem with using Smart Shapes as buttons when the project is published for HTML5. For some reason only the bottom half of the shape is active (top half of shape is totally non-functional, no hand cursor, no reaction to mouse click).

Any ideas why or how to get the entire shape to react properly in HTML5?

    Thanks again and cheers!

Please share your testing environment (CP version, OS version, browser and version). I will check if I can reproduce the issue.
