Cut an paste slides between projects.

I am struggling to work out why this seemingly simple task is so difficult (which frankly is 1/2 hourly occurance while trying to use captivate).

I have a project. We will call it Project A. It has 20 slides.

I have another project. We will all it Project B. It has 4 slides that I wish to move to Project A.

I go to the flim strip in Project B. I select the four 4 slides that I wish to move to Project A.

I hit copy.

I go to Project A. I try and paste the 4 slides from Project B.

Instead of the 4 slides an text block copied earlier in Project A is pasted.

Any thoughts?

M

I have work around ( imagine that I need a freaking work around for something as simple as cuting and pasting). If I close Project A and re-open it  seems to clear the clipboard and allows me to paste objects from another project.

Of course closing and reopening Project A usually involves Adobe Captivate freezing up. Some times I have to shut down both projects via the task manager and then try to open them again. This can take 5 to 15 minutes.

That's 5 to 15 minutes and two crashes to cut and past 4 slides.

    Did the cut paste.

The mouse animations from the new slides moved and they became unusable.

    Brilliant.

Your references to Captivate crashing when performing a cut and paste operation suggest that you may have something wrong with either your installation or your Captivate environment.  If everything is set up properly, and your PC has enough resources, AND you are definitely copying slides between projects on the same Captivate version, then you shouldn't be having these issues.

Can you show us a screenshot of your Preferences dialog to show the Default Locations fields?

Are you working on Captivate projects that are stored on your local hard drive or are they stored on a network LAN somewhere?
