Question

Default Text Entry Box failure caption is a smart shape for recordings

In Preferences, I have turned on "Use Text Captions for SFH Captions instead of Smart-Shapes". When I record a project, this works for clickbox slides, but not text entry box slides. Just wondering if there's a default I'm missing somewhere or if this is a bug. It's only been a problem since Captivate 9 (worked fine in Cap 8).

Where did you turn this on: in General settings, or for Recording, Modes?

Edit > Preferences > Defaults (it's the last checkbox).

Just double-checked, because personally whenever possible I don't use captions anymore because shapes are so much more flexible in many ways. I even thought that captions (and maybe normal image buttons) would disappear from Captivate but that is still not the case. I can confirm that for TEB's in a training simulation, messages always appear in default shape styles, not in caption styles although the Preferences are not adapted (I looked in Recording, Modes) and still talk about Captions. You can log this as a bug, I have more a feeling that it is a little bit 'by design', but at least the terminology should be correct in that case. The default settings is now to use Shapes instead of Captions, and the team must have missed this for TEB's in Training and Assessment simulations.

The only solution I see at this moment is to select the shape on each slide, use the right-click menu and choose 'Revert to Text Caption'. Too bad, I don't see a way to apply that change to all shape messages, hope I am missing something.
