Demonstration video using internal website with narration?

I am new to Captivate. I want to create a demonstration video of a tool on our website. I have a script that I will read as a narration. No webcam needed, as I only want to follow the mouse as I move through the tool, describing what one sees and what is happening.

I opened up our web site to the page I want to start recording from, but it started to record from my email. I also couldn't uncheck the no narration option, but I didn't have the microphone attached.

This should be very basic, but I need to specify what screen(s) I want to record from, and turn on the narration.

If I need to do more, I'll appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you very much.

Basic question, but did you select the application window to record?

I’m not sure. There was an option to record from PRISM (our internal web site) which I did but it didn’t give a chance to specify which page. I opened up PRISM to the page I wanted, but nothing elsel.

First question: if you really want only a video, I would recommend to create a Video Demo, not a software simulation in Demo mode. In that case it is important that you do at least a draft narration during the capturing, which means you need to have a microphon even if it is not a good one.

Can you tell if you started a Software simulation or a Video Demo?

Second question: which type of screen do you have, what is its resolution? Need to know if it is a retina screen or not. If you are on Win10 can you also check the Display resolution?

    Thank you,

I opened a new Video Demo. I do have a microphone.

It is Dell monitor, I can’t read the model (it looks like some Asian script), but the resolution is set at 1920 x 1200. It is not a retina screen.

    Win10? Check Display percentage.
