Question

Device Viewport Height

I am trying to create a responsive Captivate 9 project. How should I determine the device height for the default breakpoints of 1024, 768, 360? The HTML5 output is not scaling to the screensize and leaving whitespace on the sides or at the bottom or in some devices a scrollbar appears hiding the content on screen. I am trying to dynamically adjust spacing between objects so that the content always fills the device viewport height. Is there a way to fit the content exactly to the height available? Any help you can provide is much appreciated. Subathra

Adobe Captivate 9 is really only responsive from left to right. Height as you know is fixed for each breakpoint. The best way I know of to determine what is an appropriate height to select would be to base it on the devices that are typically used throughout the organization that you are designing and developing for.

The mistake people often make is they set their breakpoints to the full screen resolution but forget to take into account that the browser uses up some space as well. Use a web based tool such as http://howbigismybrowser.com/ to determine how large the browser window is for each of these popular devices. Use the settings from the web site as your breakpoints and those devices will display your project correctly. Similar devices may scale up or down on the left to right sizes but your project should still look fine.
