Disappearing Act

I’m running into an issue with the software menus (ex. file, edit, view) in Captivate, they keep disappearing.

I create a project in Captivate 2, or open an existing project, then import a flash animation (.swf) that I had made in Flash (nothing complicated w/no scripting whatsoever, just a few fades). I then go to the top of the screen to use the software menus, file > save, but the menus only appear for a millisecond and then disappear, this happens for every section in the software’s menu. I try to hold the alt key and select the menu with the appropriate keys but the same thing; it appears quickly and then disappears before I have the chance to select anything.

I’ve used captivate for projects in the past on this same computer, same os (win xp), and I’ve never seen this problem before. It seems to only be happening once I import an .swf into the slide.

It’s utterly frustrating, and yes, I’ve re-booted, re-installed with no avail.

Any help? Please.

For reference I've found a buggy workaround in the Adobe Knowledge Base:

    ----------

Issue: After you create a full motion recording or import an animation, the menu no longer functions.

Solution: Adobe is aware of this issue and is actively researching a resolution. As a temporary workaround, you can click on any of the items (including folder) in the Library panel. This will restore the menu functionallity.

For your information, ALSdesign, the issue was fixed in Captivate 3.
