Before you design in Adobe Captivate do you take into account people who might be color blind?

If you do, what color principles do you follow?

Yes. I am severely red green colourblind which means I virtually have no perception of the colours red and green.  This can cause issues if for example you put something purple (a combination blue and red) on top of something blue. The purple will completely blend into the background since I cannot perceive the red.

There are lots of websites that address this issue, as well as accessibility issues for the visually impaired.  Here's one that gives some general guidelines.
