Question

Does Adobe offer any FREE online courses?

Hello,

I am new to Adobe, and I am trying to learn and teach my homeschooled high school student as much as possible about several Adobe Applications/Software. I did a Google search and came upon a link for a "Free 13 hour Photoshop course". When I try to access it, it shows that there is a new course for Adobe Photoshop CC. When I click that link, it says the course isn't ready. I have found many tutorials, but I am trying to find any actual courses for Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.. I would like to learn and teach pretty much all of the most used/popular Adobe applications. I just cannot find any actual courses that are truly free. I have seen many free trials, but I need something more in-depth. I need to be able to ask questions, and possibly even have quizzes, so I can know if I am actually doing things correctly.  I am completely new to all of this. Unfortunately, I cannot pay $900+ for these courses. If anyone knows of any courses for any of these applications that are free or almost free, I would greatly appreciate if you would share. Thank you!

You posted this in the Captivate forum, apparently not an application you want to learn.

Just a tip: have a look at Lynda.com. You can try it out for a while and it has a lot of courses on Adobe applications. There is a lot around on YouTube but beware, not everything is worthwhile, and a really structured course is rare.

Thank you. I'm not quite sure how I ended up posting in the wrong place. Oops! I got here somehow through the link I had clicked on for the free 13 hour course offered by Adobe (that isn't available). I have tried Lynda.com, and found a lot of helpful tutorials, just not enough time to learn all I'd like to during their free trial. Can you recommend where I might be able to post this where it will be seen by others that might have more suggestions? Or are you quite sure that I won't be able to find anything like I am needing for free or very low cost? I appreciate your time and response. I'm not even sure what Captivate is. I would like to learn as much as I can of all the Adobe applications. I think it would be great to teach my son, but I don't know any of it well enough to teach. Thanks again! Have a wonderful day!

Hi,

You will probably have to make a financial investment in your training if you want it to be structured. Lynda.com is probably your best bet in terms of price, depth and diversity. You can teach yourself, many fine artist have, but what you save in money will be more than made up for in time - searching for new tutorials, hours of trial and error on test projects. Once you get proficient from Lynda.com then you will require access to more comprehensive training if you want to get better.  Then there is the ongoing cost of the Creative Cloud subscription itself.

Cheers
