Does Captivate allow a user to track your progress?

Does captivate have the ability to track a users progress? I am trying to create an e-Learning project and I would like to allow the user to stop and exit the course and return a later date at the part of the course they had left. Is this possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi Greg

Indeed this is possible. If you are using a Learning Management System (LMS) in concert with Captivate, the process is known as "Bookmarking" and is dependent upon the LMS in use as to how it is handled.

If you have created a Captivate module that is simply presented to the end user with no LMS in sight, you may accomplish it using the Table of Contents feature.with the option "Self Paced Learning" enabled.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for that, that was really helpful. Do you know of any downloadable examples using LMS to bookmark the users progess.

Also I saw this example on the internet, although this is done slightly differently I believe, by using a swf widget.

Although this method requires me to purchase a product to create it. Is using LMS better or is this "Shared object bookmark" better?

Hi Greg,

Whether it's better or not depends on how you would like the bookmark to behave. My component asks the user if they want to continue from their last location. Adobe Captivates built-in bookmark functions just teleports the user to their last location without any prompt.
