Question

Does expiration date follow into an LMS?

I am wondering if I develop a Captivate module, sell it to a healthcare facility (ex: hospital) and they load it into their LMS - will it still expire on the date I set?  I am looking for a way to control my modules when they have them loaded into their company's LMS.

Thanks,

Mary

Welcome to our community

If you are referring to the expiration date you may configure for a Captivate project, all it will do is check the system date on the device it's being run on. If that date is beyond the expiration, a message is presented and the movie may not proceed. But all the user has to do is bump the date back a bit and things are fine. At least that's the way it *USED* to work. Haven't tested this particular aspect since Captivate was re-written and released as version 5. Maybe it works differently now. But I'd doubt it.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for such a quick response.  I am thinking this would still work for my needs. If the end users are nurses working on hospital LMSs then that nurse would need to set back the date on that computer... I am assuming most nurses wouldn't know how to do that.  I would be more concerned about the nursing educator doing that so they had access to my eLearning for longer, however, it appears the educator would need to touch each computer that an end-user could use to access the learning.

Thanks!
