Double click box doesn't want to work

We have an area where the user is supposed to double click. A swf runs that has an arrow pointing to the area and then a highlight around the area appears.When the highlight disappears the user cannot double click. They can double click if they do it before the highlight dissappears. The click box displays for the entire slide. The layers are in the right place on the timeline. Any thoughts?
