Question

Drag and drop

Hi all,

With the "Fill in the blank" question slide in CP5, is there a way of producing a word pool that you can then drag and drop into the blanks rather than typing the answers in to the boxes?

Feel this would be of great benefit to those learners that take the quiz who have dyslexia.

Anyone any ideas if this can be done?

Cheers

Ok, many thanks Rod.

I'll have to try and find another way of doing it.

I look forward to seeing the Interactive version. Any ETA?

Sorry. No ETA at present because we're making too much money building actual courses for paying clients.

Building widgets is only really a sideline for us.

But I assure you that this widget will definitely be worth waiting for.

HI again.

I have a query again.

Is there a way with this widget to do the follwoing?

I have a paragraph of text with gaps that I drag words from a word pool into.

However two of the answers are interchangeable. (both are correct)

For example:

Blah blah blah (a) (b) blah blah blah (c)

(a) + (b) are interchangeable with (c) being a standalone answer.

I cannot fathom a way of doing this.

Any ideas?

Sorry.  The way the widget works, each target object can have single or multiple drag objects, but if you opt for multiple drag objects, it means all of them have to hit their target to achieve a correct answer condition.

What you want is for multiple correct answers to be allowed. That particular circumstance is not currently covered by the Drag and Drop Lite widget.

It will however be possible when we eventually get around to finishing our Drag and Drop Interactive widget.

Ok, final post.

Got it all sorted!

This widget is excellent.

The issues I was having had nothing really to do with anything.

I was using the F10 preview to check the slide was working ok, this worked fine when the reporting wasn't switched on but teh slide stopped working when it was switched on, however if I F10 from the slide prior to the question slide then it works absolutely fine.

Speaking to Rod it seems that the slide needs to transition in naturally rather than be started from the actual slide.

I've tested the project by uploading it to our LMS and it works perfectly.

It would be interesting to see if this happens with other widgets.

The upshot of this is that this widget is worth every penny as an addition to Captivate. I have no idea why Adobe don't produce this in the first place as it is a really good piece of kit that expands Captivate's questions no end.

Although it is just "Drag and Drop" this widget is so versatile that it adds many different types of "Drag and Drop" questions.

An excellent piece of kit.

Thanks again Rod!

Ok.

I've worked out how to create the quiz as I want it to look and have got it working lovely.

However testing has shown that the widget fails to work when reporting is switched on.

Is this correct? If so, how do I get round it?

We need this to be able to report to an LMS.

Cheers

Righty ho,

After much ummming and ahhhing and soul searching my organisation have now bought the Infosemantics Drag and Drop widget!

Now, what is the best way to create a question slide which has a paragraph with gaps that you drag and drop the words into?

I'm playing with the question slide as I type (well, almost) but having read through the instructions it's not entirely clear.

Many thanks!

You can create drag and drop questions with this widget: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/catalog/widgets/question/wdgt_dragAndDropLite_AS3

The website shows some examples using transparent text captions.

Many thanks for your swift response.

That looks excellent, however, my organisation are currently askign for justification for every penny that is being spent.

This being the case are there any other options? (Hopefully two so I can produce a business case for the $27)

Whether this is something from Adobe themselves, or something that I can create inside Captivate 5 myself?

Cheers

There's no way to create drag actions inside native Captivate.

If your organisation doesn't have $27.00 for the widget, they can hire a Flash programmer at $50 per hour to create something similar.  Shouldn't take him any more than a few weeks.
