Drag and Drop Undo Button Cause Misalignment

I have a responsive project. The drag and drop work fine if the user doesn't make any mistakes. However, if they click the UNDO button, it voids the last step but also moves the previously placed items to where they are misaligned. The items are associated with the correct box but the quiz will fail because of the misaligned items. It doesn't allow me to realign them. The only work-around is to use the reset button instead of the undo button but this isn't a great experience for the user, especially with the number of items on the screen. Any suggestions?
