Question

Drag drop text caption anywhere

I want the user to be able to grab a text caption box, which is being used as a prompt, and drop it anywhere on screen during the entire duration of the slide. The functionality allows the user to move the text caption out of the way or to a more convenient place on the screen. I could accomplish this easily in Flash but the stock Drag and Drop interaction in Captivate does not seem to be flexible enough to do this.

Thanks.

I'm a firm believer in figuring out if things can be used in perhaps not the way they were intended but to solve certain problems as they come up. I liked the idea of this functionality and it would be a great feature request as Rod suggests, however in the meantime I decided to take a stab at the following...

    Hopefully this works for you.

    Best of luck.

The real limitation of the D&D which is not designed for this type of use (is meant partially to be another kind of quiz slide) for your goal is that drag source and drop target cannot have any overlap.

Thanks for the response - that about seals it. Pretty limited functionality from Captivate though.

D&D has a lot of features however. Don't call it limited because just your goal (you are the first on this forum to request such a feature) cannot be accomplished

Captivate is supposed to be a rapid eLearning authoring tool, don't compare it with Flash development.

Please log a feature request with Adobe.  This is just the User Forum.

So this can't be done in Captivate 9?

For SWF there are two drag and drop widgets available from here:

Adobe Captivate Widgets from Infosemantics | Infosemantics Pty Ltd

For HTML5 output the current Captivate built-in drag and drop functionality is what you have to work with.
