Question

Drop down menus are not working correctly when editing a Demo video

I recorded a short practice Demo Video. As I'm trying to add text boxes, callout shapes etc. and clicking on the Drop down menus for choices, it opens on the other side of my screen not in the properties section where I click on the arrow. It sometimes ends up behind my window and it doesn't move or close down. If I open multiple drop down lists they start to stack up in the top left corner of my screen.

Has anyone had this issue? I am working on a Surface plus 2 monitors.

Thank you.

Captivate is not very well 'suited' for use of multiple monitors. I avoid it whenever possible. Sorry about that. Please, since you are on WIndows, be sure to Run as Administrator as well. I am typing on a Surface Pro 4 at this moment, love it for its size and screen, but I don't connect it to another monitor when capturing applications.

Thank you for your response. I recently took a class for Captivate and it was recommended to have at least dual monitors. Although it isn't working even on just a single monitor. IT can't figure it out either. It appears it may have something to do with the resolution? It seemed to work brought down the resolution to 1600x900 instead of 1920x1200. But that means I have to change my resolution every time I need to use it. When the program opens, an "objects" dropdown opens up first, which is odd. Then the drop down selection in the properties open on the other side of the screen. Its frustrating as I have 4 projects to complete and we can't figure this out. We even reinstalled it and still no luck.

    Nancy,

I am on a monitor 1920x1200 and everything works fine. On my laptop or Surface Pro, which both have a Retina screen, I have to switch an ini file in order to be able to use the Video Demo capture, but not on this monitor.

Did you try to clean the Preferences?

BTW. don't believe everything what is told in 'classes'....

I've not experienced anything quite as chaotic as what you're describing but certain there are times when I've had to disable my second monitor for recording my YouTube tutorials. You may wish to do the same when recording your Video Demos.
