Drop Down Skin Menu equivalent in Captivate 4?
I've been at this for hours and I'm about to give up, so someone please help. Time is of the essence and I'm working with an incredibly unreasonable client. Here's the deal:
1. I have a fairly complex course broken into four modules. Modules vary in size from 50 slides to nearly two hundred (I know, not best practice).
2. I did initial development in Captivate 2, which I've been using for years. The issues started around re-taking the quiz and navigating back and forth. I know the answer involves navigating to the slide preceding the first question to reset the quiz, but it's so kludgy, I couldn't get this to work smoothly.
3. So after more research, I downloaded Captivate 4, which has the Re-take quiz functionality built in. It works perfectly.
4. I converted the first module only to find that my simple four line drop down menu in the upper left corner did not convert. The menu allows the user to jump between the modules, which are published as exe.
5. After hours of looking for the equivalvent in Cap 4, I just about give up. I tried to all the suggestions I could find, thinking that just building four small click boxes across the top that calls URL or File would be an adequate compromise, but I can't get it to work properly.
6. I downloaded the patch that was supposed to correct the strict path issue, but it doesn't seem to. I've copied all the exe and .cps to the same folder, navigated to the exe I want to call, deleted the absolute path, and published. When I click the clickbox, Captivate opens a browser to run the exe, and then returns an error that ie could not find the website.
7. So here's what I need: EITHER a simple way to add the equivavent of my Cap 2 drop down menu in Cap 4 to call and run exes (which is my preference) OR a really clear way to allow a user to smoothly re-take a quiz as many times as necessary in Captivate 2 to attain 60%.
I can't be the first person to need this. Anybody out there solved this issue yet? BTW - I'm not a Flash developer nor do I have access to one.
