Duplicate slide names in CP4

Hi,

I would like to have the same name for some of the slides in the same movie in CP4.

In some of the cases I manage to do so and in some of the cases I get a message that the label I am trying to use is already being used by another slide.

Is there a way to bypass this somehow?

I just want to emphasize that in the same movie, I have the same slide label for different slides and then when I tired to add another slide with a label that already exists I receive the error message.

Thank you,

Merav.

    Hi there

Perhaps if you could tell us why you have a need to do this we might suggest a workaround. Typically slides are named because they represent a significant beginning of a section or a point you are branching to. In this case it's very helpful to you as a Captivate author so you may easily identify the slide during the process of linking to it.

    Hi Rick,

I am using the slide label as the TOC entry.

I have in the same movie few sections that under each one of them the same structure. For example:

    > problem 1

       > reason

       > activities

       > solution

    > problem 2

       > reason

       > activities

       > solution

    etc.

I know I can change the label in the TOC to what I want but using the slide labels it saves me the extra work of changing the TOC entries.

Maybe there is a better way to do it than this one ...

    Thanks for your help.

    Merav.

    Hello again

Okay, I see where you are coming from now and the possible use case. Sorry, but aside from simply modifying the TOC entries afterward, I can't think of a way to accommodate that. At least, not in the manner you are showing.

But I CAN think of a workaround. I'm guessing that although the Problems and subentries are always the same, each of them are related to a different overarching situation, no?

    For example:

    Checking section

    > problem 1

       > reason

       > activities

        > solution

    > problem 2

       > reason

        > activities

       > solution

    Savings section

    > problem 1

       > reason

       > activities

        > solution

    > problem 2

       > reason

        > activities

       > solution

    Credit section

    > problem 1

       > reason

       > activities

        > solution

    > problem 2

       > reason

        > activities

       > solution

So why not include part of the section name?

    Savings section

    >Saving - problem 1

       > Saving - problem 1 - reason

       > Saving - problem 1 - activities

        > Saving - problem 1 - solution

    > Saving - problem 2

       > Saving - problem 2 - reason

        > Saving - problem 2 - activities

       > Saving - problem 2 - solution

    Cheers... Rick
