Question

Effect applies to incorrect object name

Hello,

When I create a button of a smart shape and try to set the On success action to Apply effect, I can't choose the marked object name. Only all other object names.

So, adding an effect applies to wrong object.

Also, when having only a text caption and a smart shape button on the same slide, I can only choose the text caption to add effect on. In previous versions this was not an issue.

Did anyone else encounter the same issue? And how did you solve it?

Which version are you using? I just double-checked: created one slide with a shape button that has 4 Inbuilt States and one Custom state. I added a text ontainer with two states. When I choose 'Change state ' for the Success event of the shape button, I see both itesm on the slide, and can apply all states with of course the exeption of the Rollover and Down state for the shape button which are reserved states only occurring in their specific situation. That was the same in CP9. I don't know which version you are using, nor about which former versions you talk. Multistate objects appeared in CP9.

Hi,

Captivate 2017. For previous versions I mean Captivate 8.

I want to add a flip card effect on an object. So when clicking on it, the object should flip but I do not work for me. That's when the effect applies to the incorrect object. I assumed you wouldn't have to change any states for that matter.

Which effect do you want to use?  Only the effects compatible with HTML5 are now visible. I thought you wanted to change states because in my mind flipping a card would show the back instead of the front. That was not even possible in version 8, where you had to hide the front slide and show the back side. That is why I talked about states. But apparently you mean something else by 'flipping' a card. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

You can still apply an effect to the shape button itself, but you need to use an Advanced action. I cannot remember how this was in CP8, have no longer that version, but it was the same in CP9.
