I have just installed my new Captivate 5 and execute it.  It came out a small window and says "Adobe Captivate has encountered a problem and needs to close.....".  When I click on the link to get more information, it says "Error signature : AppName: adobecaptivate.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.596 ModName: dvaui.dll ModVer: 5.0.0.0 Offset: 001ab9a7".  I have the same problem after I deinstall and reinstall it.   Anyone can help !!!!

Hi Subhransu,

My answer are:

1. I am using Window XP professional SP3 English version

2. I am new to Captivate, this is my first trial. I am using DVD install disk.

3. I have just upgrade to a 500GB HDD, so it is no other version loaded before.

4. I have only Adobe reader installed in my PC.

5. No error during installation.

I can share more with you too, hope you can target on my problem.

1. I have de-installed the things that installed during Captivate installation before I re-install Captivate.

2. I have downloaded another copy from Adobe website, but same problem.

3. I am using a MS window with Asia language support and using Chinese as default (Double byte environment). However I have changed to English as default (Single Byte environment) and re-install again. But same problem.

4. Do you think any issue with direct X or Java or other?

Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks a lot.

Kind Regards

Hello Alvin,

Can you try the steps mentioned in the KnowledgeBase Article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/843/cpsid_84332.html? If it doesn't help, can you send the installer log files located at  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers  to viswanat@adobe.com?

Thanks,

Vish
