Examples of interactive pdf

Question

I understand this is more of an instructional design question so ignore if you choose. We have long documents that I want to break down into components. I am thinking an interactive PDF. Love to hear or see examples of what you all are doing. I want to keep it pretty simple but allow it to be consumed and learned by our folks.

I used to create often interactive prdf's in the past, as a college professor. It had some real advantages: you didn't have to deploy it on a webserver, student didn't need to have an Internet connection (long time ago that used to be a problem), Adobe Reader had the necessary plugin embedded by default.

Why I no longer use this approach? Adobe Reader has since severral versions no longer the Flash player plugin embedded and the announced EOL of Flash player. Moreover with the latest version of Captivate I did see real problems, loss of functionalilty in the interactive pdf created from Captivate. For presentations about CP, which I logically always create with CP, I used an interactid pdf during the presentation. That was not possible for my last presentation at ALS, I had to use a web-deployed version.
