Exclude certain slides in total slide count

Is there a way to "exclude" certain slides in the total slide count?  For example, if I have a total of 110 slides but there are 10 specific slides which I do not "care", so I want to say as long as the users completed the other 100 slides, they will get a completion for the course.

Also, how would this work in the case of branching?  We would like to provide the learners with some flexibility on smart learning.  For example, assuming I'm building a course on how to do goods and service receiving in SAP.  I would like to start off by asking the question "Do you do goods receiving only, service receiving only, or both?", I would then like to give the user the option to go through the goods receiving module, and skip the service receiving module, unless they choose to go through both.  In such a case, how would I mark learners as complete?  Ideally, I would like to mark them base on a branch count of slides.  So if they choose to go with goods receiving only, how many slides they need to complete, and if they choose to go with service receiving only, how many slides that branch requires for completion, etc.  Is this supported by Captivate?

Thanks for any advice!

You could use Branch aware if you can cope with the limitations as Rod points out. That will mean that score is important, not only the number of visited slides. You can use scored objects, with score included in the Total score for those slides that have to be visited.

You can easily set the required percentage of slides for completion in the Quiz > Reporting dialog.  So if you have 100 slides but only need the user to visit 90 or more, setting your completion percentage to a bit below 90% would do it.

However, it would appear your requirements are more complex than that.  You may want the user to visit CERTAIN slides based on their role or required knowledge.

In theory you could do this in Captivate using tracking variables and Advanced Actions.  If there are quiz question slides involved and you want learners to only visit CERTAIN quiz slides, then that navigation COULD again (in theory) be controlled with variables and Advanced Action.  And the scoring of the group of quiz questions the learner DOES visit could be help by using the Branch Aware option in Captivate, which only scores the learner based on visited questions answered correctly, rather than on all questions in the quiz.

So there are options available, but I think you should be aware that this could get quite complex and in the end you might be better off just having three different modules and getting the learner to visit the modules they need that way.
