Exporting Captivate Slides to Powerpoint

Within your library, use the mouse to select all the "Background Images", you would like to save. Once they are all highlighted, you can then right click over them, and select export to folder. An interface will appear, allowing you to choose folder to save the backgrounds to.

This works well for a fast export, however, all the backgrounds are saved as the 3mb bmps. If you have Fireworks or Paint Shop or Gimp, etc, you could do a batch rename and a batch file size reduction.

If you don't have these programs, you could just right click on each individual background image in the library and select "export". From there, you can choose the folder and type of image file to export as, at a reduced file size.

One way you may be able to do this is-

Save a backup copy of your Captivate Presentation.
If you don't need animations, then you can merge all the objects on a slide into the background.
The backgrounds from each slide can then be exported as graphic files (jpg gif png or bmp). These backgrounds will be set at the resolution of the Captivate presentation. In essence, they are better than screen captures.
They could then be imported into PPT to fit on the slides.

I don't know if this is close to what you are looking for, but it is all I can think of at the moment. ;)

Thanks for your help. I've found that if you publish as Microsoft Word, this will export all of the slides to a Word document. Then you can essentially copy those images from the Word document, and past them onto a slide in powerpoint. I might submit a feature request. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Rick. However, I don't think this is what they are looking for. What the client is looking for, is a way to export the Captivate slides, to be slides in a PowerPoint presentation. I was hoping that I could import the slides/screen captures from Captivate, into PowerPoint slides. Does that make more sense?

There is no inherent capability for this built into Captivate of either version. One possible workaround would be to use something like TechSmith's SnagIt to capture each Captivate slide while you are playing the movie. Then import each of the screen captures into PowerPoint. But that's only if you desire to create individual slides in PowerPoint that are based on the slides produced in Captivate. Another option would be to insert the Captivate movie itself on a single PowerPoint slide and have it play right there. For information on how to accomplish this, click here and follow what is described in the Technical Note. Although it generically refers to "Flash" content, think "Captivate movie" where you see mentions of Flash.
