Question

Extraneous click boxes on slides imported from PowerPoint--even after importing with "Automatically" checked

I imported a PowerPoint 2010 file into Captivate 8.  When importing, I selected "Automatically" for advancing.  When the slides are imported, you can click the left and right side of the screen and advance the slides.  This is immediate right after importing...I haven't done any editing to the slides yet. In looking at the Timeline...there are no click box objects on these slides at all.  How do I remove these extra clicks?

Thanks!

Hi there

I would begin by inspecting the PowerPoint to ensure there are no settings for advancing the slides on a click or other actions that would cause this.

During the import process from PowerPoint, Captivate actually converts each of the PowerPoint slides to a Flash SWF and configures the SWF as the slide background. I believe if you have clicks in the PowerPoint, they end up in Captivate, but are embedded in the SWF.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the response.

I went back and checked and there are no actions in the PPT that could be causing this. I also had a colleague of mine test importing the slides into 5.5 instead of 8.  He didn't have this issue.  I have 7 at home, so I am going to see if 7 causes this.

I'll report back what I find.  And if anyone else has ideas in the meantime, please let me know!!

Thank you!

Kim

Hmmm, well perhaps you have found a bug?

One way to ensure that you get exactly what you want from PowerPoint is to treat PowerPoint like any other application used with Captivate. Just play the PowerPoint and record it using Captivate.

You might want to report the issue as a bug using the link below:
