Question

F1 - How do I capture it in training mode on Captivate 4?

I'm capturing a system in training mode of Cp4.  In the live system the user presses 'F1' to move to the next screen. We need to embed the SWF output into a rapid authoring tool which runs on IE.  Trouble is pressing F1 displays the IE help screen and doesn't move the capture forward.

I suppose we could simply tell the user that they would press F1 and have the screens move on automatically or we could put an image of the keyboard on screen and have them click on the image of an F1 key but these are not ideal.

There are a number of 'unanswered' discussions on the forum going back over 5 years around this.  Does anyone have a solution/suggestion nowadays please?

    Hi there

Sorry, but the problem is that when you decide to play things from inside the browser, you are subject to the way the browser behaves. There is no way I'm aware of to disable the F1.

Perhaps it will help to think of it this way. If I wallk into my kitchen, flipping the light switch always turns the light off or on. I cannot instantly make the switch turn the TV off or on unless I did some major re-wiring.

    Cheers... Rick

Thanks Rick.  Love the analogy.  We are working around it...don't fancy trying the re-wiring that may mess up everything else on my laptop!

May be you find some idea from reading http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64652. Key problem is to disable F1 in your BROWSER.

Thanks.  Yes from this it seems it's possible to disable the F1 key on individual PCs but we have over 15,000 learners wanting to do this course and they'd all have to do it yike!..Oh well we're working around it with a demo slide just telling them they'd now press F1.  Not perfect but acceptable.

Thanks for taking time to reply and suggest a route to try.

    Cheers
