Failure captions not showing

We at least have found a consistent way to duplicate this issue. The failure caption will work initially, but if the user actually clicks in the box and moves to another slide, and then moves back, the failure caption will not appear.

We are working with some very creative work arounds (adding short blank slides that will jump around) but this is definately not an ideal fix.

Is this a known bug? Is this a PEBKAC error? Please let me know.

I did however find a workaround for this issue.

We had several buttons on the screen acting as navigation buttons taking the place of the functionality which would normally come from the playback control bar. We needed a little different fuctionality so we could not use a skin for this project.

I found that if these buttons were indented a tenth of a second on the timeline, the click box will reset and will work.

PEBKAC means "Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair." A tech support way of saying user error.

    Hi carlthenewt,

It is known but is not considered a "bug". The interactive objects (click-boxes, buttons, and text-entry boxes) in Captivate do not "reset" themselves, due to the testing nature of those objects.

The solution is in the design of your projects. Avoid backward movement if this behavior is a problem. And to get the attention of the developers - to change this behavior in future versions - click this link to the Feature Request and Bug Report Form . It would be nice to have the reset as an option, at least, and requesting it on that form is the only sure way to get the developers' attention - they DO read that form of input.

As to a "PEBKAC error", these forums are generally English-speaking so I can't help with that ... I have no one available here who speaks Acronymian (or is it Acronymious?). Sorry.

    Ciao ~
