fatal error starting captivate 9

Starting Captivate 9 gives a fatal error. Sometimes it works after 2 of 3 times restart the application. Sometimes it needs 5 times or i need to restart the computer. It makes no sense if i start Captivate normal or as an administrator. And it occurs before i have opened a (new) project. The strange thing is that this problem occurs on both pc's i have installed Captivate on. These pc's (work and private) are very different (network (windows for network) and standalone (windows 10).

What can be the reason?

That means you are NOT on the latest version available at this time.  I suggest you update to 9.0.2.437 immediately to see if it can resolve your current issue.  Doing so has worked for others on this forum.


I misread your information, sorry. You're right. I updated to the latest version and indeed the problem seems solved!  Thanks.

I have been on version 9.02.421 since Day 1 and I I get the fatal errors all the time. Therefore, this version does not resolve the fatal errors. I couldn't even open any of my projects this morning because of the fatal errors.

That is NOT the latest version, which is 9.0.2.437.

Thanks for letting me know that.  I will try and update my version to see if this resolves my issues. I misread the version on one of the replies.

What version of Captivate 9 are you on?  At this moment Cp9.0.2.437 is the latest. If you're not on that version, then you should update immediately.  (The update has been known to fix the issue you describe.)

I work with a newer version: 9.0.2.421
