Filename too long after update

Captivate updated to V 7.0.1.237 yesterday.  When I went to publish a project today I got the message:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 (32 bit)\utils\opt\win\pngquant.exe

The filename or extension is too long.

The published course doesn't work.

Hi all, I have been suffering from accessing, managing and even renaming files

>>> that have more than 255 characters over a long time. I have tried various ways

>>> but failed. Then I have searched this problem in internet. Then I have found a solution. This software is very easy to use. Named Long path Tool.

For some reason, the product title in the "Publish" window sometimes has the full path. (The project title should only be the name, while the folder is the path.) Did you check to make sure your title is only a name (not a path)?

I've since solved my problem by moving all my project up one folder. All this has done is shortened the number of characters in the path by 12 characters in my case but that seems to be enough to solve the problem. There does seem to be a character limit in the path.

Hi

Can you please check and share the number of characters in the path that worked in your case? This will help other users who are facing similar issue.

I determined the problem.  The path to where the zip file was to be saved when I published was too long.  Between switching to Windows 7 recently which added a new level of folders and renaming a folder I exceeded some buffer in Captiviate.

I renamed the folder to a shorter name and it published successfully.

It appears that there is an issue in 7.0.1 html5 builds that may be more than just the length of file paths.

Perhaps using networked resource locations?
Who knows?

Interesting to see the character limit in Captivate. I knew it existed in RoboHelp.

In RoboHelp, the path of the filename (folders + filename including the extension) should not exceed 257 characters. By any chance, do you have a similar number for Captivate?
