Firewall blocking dynamically created "adobecaptivatews"

I cannot get Adobe Captivate 9 to work properly on a Windows 10 Home PC (64-bit system).

  • Issue 1: After converting a PowerPoint or importing an image file to the workspace, the slides are blank.

  • Issue 2: My Firewall is blocking the dynamically created folders in temp for "adobecaptivatews".

  • Issue 3: Captivate install will not allow me to change the default installation folder from C:\Program Files\Adobe . Is there a way to ensure that the folder permissions are set properly?

  • Issue 4: Adobe does not seem to have a support email. The only options appear to be posting to this forum, talking to someone via Phone (which isn't currently available) or Chat (but Chat is currently closed).

Does anyone have insight into these Captivate access issues?

Do you run Captivate as administrator?

Do never install Captivate on a networked drive.

Are you launching Captivate using the Run As Administrator command?  This is NOT the same as having Administrator rights to your PC.  If you don't know how to set this up, then do some Googling.  There's plenty of info on the web about it.

I do NOT recommend you try changing the default install location in Program Files.

If your Firewall is blocking adobecaptivatews then you need to configure the firewall to allow it, otherwise you will not be able to effectively preview content.
