Question

Flash Detection

I am using CP3 and was wondering if there is any functionality, in the publishing process, to detect which version of flash is on the client machine when they first launch the course. I am thinking there is not because I can find no documentation in the CP3 help file but I thought I would check here for best practices in this area. I have downloaded the Flash detection kit but after reading over it I am not sure how I would incorportate that into my title. Thanks for any help.

Hi BKSTER,

There are different ways of implimenting Flash detection. At our organization the current thought is to point the LMS generated menu to a Flash detection page that then either passes the user to a "You have the wrong version of Flash" page or the actual lesson start. We are just starting this approach, so I haven't thoroughly tested as yet.

The theory is that the student shouldn't even touch the lesson HTML until they have the correct version of Flash loaded, otherwise the LMS will mark them as having started the lesson, when they haven't.

If I run into problems with this approach I'll post the information.
