Folders keep switching

Hello,

My company has bought an Adobe Captivate 6 license, there were no problems during the installation.

However after installing Captivate the employee who uses it mentioned that the cache and project folder were automatically placed in his profile.

Since we are using roaming profiles we can't have those folders in the profile.

First we tried changing the location to a server but when we tried that, Captivate gave a notice that this was impossible since it's a remote location. Therefor we wanted to change it to the local C:\ drive, unfortunately normal users can't access the C:\ drive for security reasons. This is being controlled by an Active Directory policy which we aren't allowed to change.

We have already tried changing the security rights (right mouse --> properties --> security) via an administrator account. Now it was possible to change the folder.

But as soon as the user rebooted or logged out the computer the preferences of Captivate changed back to the roaming profile.

Is there anything we have not tried that could work.

Kind regards,

Bart A.

    Unfortunately this doesn't work either

We gave the securty rights full control on the entire. program files and profile.

The program can't be run as administrator since the user doesn't have these rights. And we will not give these for security reasons.

We believe that it has to do with the roaming profile, when we use a local profile everything works fine. We can't give this user a local profile otherwise we can't make backups of his profile.

OK, that's what I suspected might be happening.

    Then here's the problem:

The Captivate app exe MUST be Run As Administrator in order to function properly.  AND it must use a local (not roaming) profile.  AND all Captivate project files must reside on the local PC hard drive while being worked on.  That's the way this app is designed to work and if you break these designed-in rules Captivate won't work properly for you.  It will suffer from all manner of issues.

So if your rigid about NOT setting up Captivate for this user as it requires, then I think you may need to look elsewhere for an authoring tool.

    Hi,

I think this article by Michael Lund, AKA cpguru, is JIT for you:

    Unfortunately this didn't work.

We keep getting the same problem that the folders keep going back to the server.

One of my collegues came up with the idea to edit the file in which the default location is given.

Does anyone know where to find this file. I keep looking for it but perhaps someone knows where it's placed.
