Is there a free/open source LMS that works well with captivate-exported scorm packages?

How is captivate created content frequently used ?

         a) export it to a web and use it in a website without LMS ?

         b) export it to scorm and use it in a LMS ?

It is disappointing that Adobe does not provide a LMS to complete the e-Learning picture

thanks

    Hi,

Illias, moodle (already mentioned) and A-tutor are just three of the many open-source SCORM-capable LMS that have popped up.  Moodle seems to be more popular due to ease of installation, and the variety of modules/add-ons that allow you to really customize your installation.  Illias is very good, great for larger institutions, but is definately more complicated to install, configure and support - Although it has many fans, I've not installed A-tutor, so although I know it is also PHP/MySQL-based like the others, and it seems simple enough, I can't speak directly to its supportability.

If you're going to use 1.2 SCORM, they are all good choices, but I do believe Illias support for SCORM 2004 seems to be better than Moodle, but I've gotten that information second-hand, so take it for what it's worth.

It really depends on the needs of your organization, how big it is, how much control you want over content, and what resources you have to maintain and support your Distance Learning effort.

    Good luck.

    /Kurt

can you develop your quizzes with captivate and publish it into moodle ?  or does moodle itself have some tool to create the quizzes ?

overall, how is the captivate + moodle experience for you ?  - in terms of stability of the system, maintenance etc ?

    thanks
