General question about Flash and eLearning

I'm a Flash Actionscript 3 developer stuck at an advertising agency. I hate advertising and want to get into eLearning (I was at an eLearning company for 1.5 years, but they went out of business)

Do people use Flash for eLearing? If so, where are these jobs posted?

If you are on LinkedIn you can join some of the E-learning groups there. They often have job postings etc.

Another option would be to start off by making some AS3 Widgets / stock components to be used in E-learning and/or Captivate project and sell these via the Adobe Exchange or another online market place.

I know several Flash programmers that make their living from selling stock flash components on sites like www.flashden.net and similar.

Michael,

Knowledge and experience with Flash Actionscript is a VALUABLE skill to have! You would be able to supplement an instructional design team with that that unique expertise, which, I suspect, only a small percentage of us instructional designers have. As a previous responder suggested, search the various online job databases, using terms such as:

- instructional design

- curriculum development

- elearning

- online course development

I suspect a larger company that has division of labor, i.e., instructional designers, developers, editors, etc., would be looking for someone with Actionscript skills. I wish you good success! Some company needs your skills; keep doing your job research.

Damn, I guess not.

Hi there,

People do indeed use Adobe Flash or eLearning, in fact the Adobe eLearning Suite includes a whole series of eLearning interactions for Adobe Flash. Where jobs are posted in another matter, though if you do a search on monster.com for Instructional Design you will see that many of the vacancies expect you to have Flash skills.

You can learn more about the Adobe eLearning Suite from the link I have included below
