Getting rid of black borders around videos?

I think their is some error in your short code. I have used one, I'll tell you how you can easily embed your video without any Black Borders.

• Usage Instructions: 
• To embed a YouTube video, use the following shortcode in your WordPress post or page:
  [cpve_portrait_youtube id="YOUR_VIDEO_ID"]
  Replace YOUR_VIDEO_ID with the unique ID of the YouTube video you want to embed.

So, I'm just thinking out loud here.  No claim of best practice on my part by any means. But here goes:

Potential option 1:  could you add a shape and layer it behind the video, but color it the same color as the border. In this case black, so the appearance of a border is not there. Not sure that is what you're looking for. 

Potential option 2:  consider using PPT to create two shapes and layer them on top of one another such that one shape is the exact size of the video pane (just inside the border) and the other is your intended background. In your case color the background shape white and use the combine shapes feature to remove the smaller, video pane shape. Essentially, you've created a window mask or layer. Now just save as picture and insert into your Captivate project. You should be able to place it and resize to your needs. Just make sure you place it OVER the video in Captivate.

What I mean by scale is, not publish, but take the video on the Captivate canvas and scale it so that it is bigger than the default canvas. It will take some tweaking,  but you should be able to align the active video parts to the existing canvas. Captivate won't render anything over outside of the canvas area so voila, you have no black lines.

Hi Steve, thanks for your advice.

I have published the video in several different ratio's and quality settings.

I can reduce the size of the black borders but I can't get rid of them completely, which is a shame because it spoils the presentation.

Unfortunately the answer is no. If your source is smaller than your screen it will automatically show the black borders. That is coming from the video  Do you have access to the source footage, can you rerecord it?

The only other option, which is really ugly, is to scale the whole video so only the active area covers the Captivate canvas, and the black is off the renderable areas. It will just show the video but the quality will take

a major hit.
