Question

Ghost lines extend from bottom of fill-outer-area highlight box

On viewing a SWF file of a slide that has a fill-outer-area highlight box, there are unwanted faint lines extending from either side of the bottom of the highlight box. See screenshot below.

  • The lines are more subdued in the image than when viewing the actual SWF.
  • The lines are not visible when the slide is viewed in the the Filmstrip View, regular Preview, or Preview in Web Browser.
  • Experimentation indicates that the presence of the lines seems to be somewhat related to the position of the highlight box. If you can imagine three horizontal lines dividing the slide into quarters:
    • The ghost lines tend not to display when the bottom of the highlight box is in the top or bottom quarter of the slide.
    • The ghost lines occasionally but not always display when the bottom of the highlight box is in the second and third quarter of the slide.
    • The postion of the highlight box on the X axis does not seem to have any effect.

About Captivate's configuration:

  • I'm using Captivate 6.1.0.319.
  • Publishing settings are default.
  • The highlight box has a fill of 50% #000000 and a 5 pt stroke of #F4ED00.

Any suggestions for getting rid of these lines would be appreciated.

I notice that the same question was asked by JeffStoltz in October 2007. No answer was ever provided. Cue ominous music!

Please uncheck the Advance Project compression option from the Edit>Preference. It might help you to remove that ghost line.

Rajeev.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, publishing with the Advance Project Compression checkbox unchecked gives the same results as publishing with the checkbox checked. The ghost lines are still there. I have found that moving the highlight box a pixel or two up or down will eliminate the lines.

Try switching of 'scaleable html content' if you have it switched on
