Glitching Audio and quizzing problems

Hi,

I am using captivate 7.

I am working on a med-large captivate project.  approx 16-20mins audio across 33 slides and 28 quiz slides .  I have two major issues.

1. The audio is cutting out at the start of slides.  I have narrowed it down to slides that captivate automatically trims the silence at the beggining of the file, then just doesn't quite pick up the start. I have tried all of the work arounds I could find in the forums with no real success. adding silence to the file seems to actually cut the audio off.  I even tried generating tones outside of the human hearing range and captivate interpreted the tones  as clicks and pops. I tried unchecking advanced compression and checking force republish.  Does anyone have any idea? I have tried splitting the project in half, I have tried on 4-5 computers, both pc and mac, and no real difference.

2. Slow quizzing.  The same project has 28 quiz questions.  50/50 multiple choice and short answer with a drop down menu.  They are all slow and get slower when published.  I have a brand new retina display mac pro with ss drive and 16gig ram and it struggles to run the published quizzes.  I have again tried it on 4-5 computers, from low end work place pc's to high end macs.  The published projects runs similar on each.

With both these problems I have tried exporting as different size projects, different versions of flash.....

Help please!!!!!!!

Ben

Ben, don't add silence but 'noise', it will also sound much more natural.

Hi Ben,

I didn't see you mention about Slide transitions, if you have Fade in Fade out slide transition, it may cut off audio at beginning of slide. Also have you tried creating a brand new project and inserting just the audio onto 3 or 4 new slides and see if it still cuts off audio (with no slide transitions of cause!)?

For the quiz running slow, have you tried in Quiz Properties > On Success and On Failure> Go to Next slide (instead of Continue)?

Hi Anita,

Thank you for your response.  The audio is still cutting off.  I have no transitions.  I have copied them across to a new project, that seemed to fix the problem, however, when I copied them back the cutting off returned.  I tried copying each slide individually to the new project and it all started again.

Changing the quiz settings made no difference.  It seems to be an issue with short answer drop down quizzes.  When I remove these from the project the speed and consistency increases.

Thanks

Ben

Hi Benila,

Can you please upload your project to acrobat.com and send me the download link at ramadoss@adobe.com

Please upload the project that has both the issues - Audio cut off and slow quizzing.

Haridoss
