Glossary in another language (Japanese)

Hello,

Has anyone ever tried to create a glossary in another language like Japanese.
I am not using the Japanese CP version unfortunately...
Issues:

A. The search field shows "ABC" which doesn´t work in Japanese.
B. Japanese text is shown but only in the description box. If we enter a latin character at the start of the left column it is also shown but that of course defeats the purpose.

Is there any alternative to the glossary widget which I personally find to be a bit on the old side...?
