Glow or sparkle on mouse click

When I create software simulations I often put a blur and glow behind the click area to subtly set it off. 

I am looking for a good effect for software demos.  I have tried the above effect but I don't like it much in demos.  I have also looked at the new Effects gallery in CP9 but nothing there seems appropriate.

I have seen examples (probably not CP) where when the mouse is clicked the click area sort of sparkles or poofs, but I don't see a way to do that in CP9. 

Any ideas?
