Go To The Previous Slide Action Not Working

Hi there.

I'm using Captivate 8, but have noticed this problem in Captivate 7 as well.

For my projects I have my own playback bar on every slide with 'Back', 'Start again' and 'Next' buttons. The 'Back' buttons have the 'Go to the previous slide' action, but this only works intermittently - it seems like in almost every one of my projects there'll be a point where the back button stops working - instead of going back to the previous slide, it acts as a 'Continue' action. I originally thought this was an issue with the built-in playback bars, as it was happening with that, so designed my own playbar instead, but it's still occurring.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It's happening both when previewing in the browser and when the exported SWF file is uploaded to our website, and happening across hundreds of different projects, of varying sizes.

Seems to be a built-in bug, so I'm assuming there's no resolution, but was wondering if anyone had any workarounds. Ideally I don't want to change every single action to 'Jump to slide' instead, as that would be thousands of actions I'd need to change.

Thanks.

Correct answer RodWard

Does it mainly occur AFTER you begin interacting with anything that is set to report to the Quiz? If so, do you have Backward Movement disabled in quiz settings?

Do you have the custom navigation buttons on master slide or timed for the rest of the project? Did you take out the pausing point for the Back button? Do you have Pretest slides or Branch aware selected? Rod asked already about Quiz preferences.

Hi Lilybiri.

The quiz preferences worked for one example, but if it doesn't resolve other examples, I'll also check those settings.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

RodWard you absolute beaut! I just tested it on one example, and that worked.

What's happened is that I've randomly got some clickboxes in my projects set to be reported on, even though I'm not using a quiz or any reporting (must have been set to report by default and I didn't bother changing it). This means that on these slides I can't go backwards. As they're randomly scattered throughout my projects, it wasn't something I considered.

Thanks a lot. I'll change that setting on them all over the next few days.
