GoBack Button

We would like to use a button to go back rather than previous so that a person could jump around in a course.

We have tried <A HREF="javascript:history.go(-1)">, but we just get script errors.

Any suggestions or help would be great.

Thanks for the responses. I'll try to be more specific.

We're using Captivate to create online courses. We want to allow students to quit out of a course at any time. When the student quits the course from any slide, we are navigating them to a specific slide that confirms they want to quit. This slide also informs them that they will not be receiving credit for this course if the continue. At that point we want to allow them to change their mind and return to the slide they came from in the course.

I'm sorry for not being detailed enough in my earlier postings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi DCCDCU

Okay, I see what you are wanting to do now. Unfortunately, there is just no way to accomplish this from a generic standpoint. It's certainly something you could request via the WishForm. Click here to visit the WishForm.

Thinking about it, it occurs to me that you might be able to accomplish it by creating multiple slides that advise of the ramifications of quitting. Each one would have a button that pointed back to the logical starting point.

    Just a thought... Rick

    Hi DCCDCU

I'm not sure what you are after here. Do the options for Previous slide Next slide not give you what you need? Or are you instead talking about going back in the browser history? Where you would exit the Captivate movie and redisplay the page where you clicked the link?

    Cheers... Rick

An example would be sending a user from slide 2 to slide 10, we want the user to be able to go back to slide 2 rather than slide 9. I hope this clarifies your question.

Using this example, my recommendation would be to insert a new button on slide 10 and in the button properties window:

On Success: = Jump to slide
Jump to slide: = Slide 2
