Guidance-Suggestions for approach to project creation

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Adobe Captivate and I need to create an training video on how to use a particular proprietary software.  My challenge is that I do not have a testing environment to capture data-free screens, which means I will need to obfuscate the data. Can this be done if using the Video Demo option? Or would there be a better format to use to approach this project?

    Hi there

    If you record using the slide-by-slide screen capture approach, you have an ability to cover up areas with sensitive information. Normally I insert a Highlight Box object and configure it to totally hide the area. Then it's easy to copy and paste to other slides to cover the same area on those slides. And if it's important that not even the Captivate developer see the data, you are able to right-click the areas and choose to merge them with the background to totally obliterate them.

    You are then able to insert Text Captions with no background (transparent) to fill in fictitious information in the places where the old information appeared.

      I agree with Rick.  If you need to obfuscate the data, DON'T go with Video Demo.  Slide by slide capture allows you the option to edit the captures in Photoshop and even completely change the data shown if you need to.  It's tedious, but it can be done so well that the end user would never know.  Something that is next to impossible to do in the case of Video Demo.
